About

Through material.
Paper, glass, oil, charcoal, wood, ink, pigments, earth…
A polyphony of textures.

Material as light.
Exploring the power of stained glass and glass art to crystallize light and time—fixing a form within matter while allowing it to remain fluid, ever-changing with the light of each passing day. Going beyond the two-dimensional plane, expanding into volumetric structures that interact with the space they inhabit.

Pictorial materials.
The fragile, powdery evanescence of charcoal.
The textures and layered depths of oil paints and mediums.
Opacity and transparency, matte and gloss…

I let them teach me,
Reveal themselves, resist me.
Through gesture and technique, I seek their hidden essence.
I surrender to matter,
I devote myself to it, confront it,
Explore it, question it, and invite it to dance.

This pictorial substance,
I must not tame it, but listen—
For matter subdued would lose its soul.
With it and through it,
I long to rekindle
That profound and stirring sensation—
The touch of presence.

And so, I paint.
